Dr. Kelly Regula
Dr. Regula graduated with honours from the University of Manitoba, Faculty of Dentistry in 2008. She has received awards for endodontics, removable prosthodontics, orthodontics and professional performance and attitudes in clinical dentistry, among others.
Dr. Regula is a member of the Manitoba Dental Association, Winnipeg Dental Society, Winnipeg Progressive Dental Study Club, Manitoba Prosthodontic Study Club and a facilitator with the Winnipeg General Practice Study Club.
Prior to pursuing her dental degree, Dr. Regula graduated with a PhD degree in Physiology from the University of Manitoba. Her research, conducted at the St. Boniface General Hospital Research Centre, focused primarily on heart cell death and mechanisms to prevent it. For her research, Dr. Regula was awarded the Henry Friesen Young Scientist Award and received prestigious CIHR funding. It was the perfect balance of art and science and a desire to help others that ultimately drew Dr. Regula to dentistry.
Dr. Regula's passion for dentistry goes beyond the dental office. She has participated in many rewarding dental mission trips abroad including Cambodia, Ecuador, Nicaragua and Uganda. She also shares her knowledge and enthusiasm for dentistry locally as a clinical instructor at the Faculty of Dentistry. Dr. Regula continues to strive for excellence pursuing additional training in orthodontics, cosmetic dentistry and implant dentistry.
Another of Dr. Regula's passions is the arts. While pursuing higher education, she also taught musical theatre to children and teens at a local dance school. Today, you can often hear Dr. Regula singing to her young patients about “sugar bugs” and “shiny happy teeth”. Dr. Regula, herself, was quite apprehensive going to the dentist as a child. Her unique approach with children helps to put them at ease in the dental chair. When not at work, Dr. Regula enjoys photography, gardening and spending time with her husband, Trevor and son, Oliver.
